5 Exotic Butters we love

5 Exotic Butters we love

You wanted to know what's in your creams, balms and serums and I promised to tell you about these lush and premium quality ingredients. They are all raw and unrefined, sourced very carefully from all over the world and from great suppliers, that we trust.

One of the most exciting ones to work with are the rich, nourishing and moisturising butters. They are real skin saviours and gourmet food for your skin.

In our little studio we have rare and exotic butters, such as Shorea, Bacuri, Mowrah, Ucuuba and Muru Muru. Each one of them have very special herbal or earthy aroma and amazing colour. These butters have been used largely by the natives not only because they are great emolients, but due to their anti-bacterial, anti-fungus and anti-inflamatory properties and for treating of different skin disorders.

There are 5 exotic butters, that I mainly use in your formulations. Because they are simply delicious to formulate with and make wonders for the skin.

Shea nilotica butter

Is a superfood for your skin. Shea nilotica butter is the rare one - extracted from the finest of the two shea nuts. It is known for its sublime properties. Your skin benefits from the high concentration of oleic acids and vitamins E and A, making it an incredible moisturizer for your skin. Harvested by women in Uganda, making it an essential source for a better life locally. Mega soft and delicious texture, and a wonderful golden colour. Super gentle to your skin. Pure artisan luxury textures can be created with this beautiful, exquisite kind of Shea. I'm absolutely in love with it!

Cacao butter raw

Fantastic for dry skin. Though beneficial for all skin types this versatile butter moisturizes, nourishes and hydrates your skin. Organic cacao butter from The Dominican Republic is rich on beneficial vitamins, antioxidants and essential fatty acids needed to maintain healthy skin. It contains Palmitic, Oleic and Stearic fatty acids – therefore it’s a killer for dry skin. Cacao butter has crazy antiaging effect. Wonderful smell of chocolate, and a light golden colour. It’s raw, it’s premium and it’s outstanding for your skin.

Cupuacu butter

Ultimate artisan luxury for your skin. Unrefined cupuacu (koo poo asoo) is the best moisturizer around. Period! It’s freshly pressed, raw, unrefined. Directly from the fruit of the trees in Atlantic Brazil, into our studio – and onto your skin. It has even greater moisturizing power than shea. What a super ingredient this is! It helps to soothe symptoms of skin disorders such as psoriasis and eczema. And has no known allergic effects. Unrefined Cupuacu Butter is very rich in phytosterols, which help to regulate the balance and the activity of the skin lipids, soothing dry, cracked skin and smoothing lines and wrinkles. It has an enticing smell of raw white chocolate, and a wonderful off white colour.

Kokum Butter

This more dry butter moisturizes and penetrates slowly into your skin, without greasing it. The raw unrefined butter is obtained from the kernels of mangosteen. Ours being from kokum trees in India, owned by a small family company, and harvested the traditional way by physical/mechanical extraction. The trees grow where no fertilizers or pesticides can reach. It softens and nourishes the skin, softening lines and wrinkles by restoring elasticity and improving the ability of the skin to retain moisture.
It has a chalk-like texture, with a slightly brownish colour and soft smell of Brazil Nut.

I use all these 4 butters in THE VELVET CREAM, that will be launched very soon and you will be able to purchase it here on the website.

Maracuja butter

Organic maracuja butter from the yellow fruit, harvested in South America. I simply love this soft and light butter! It has healing effects on damaged skin, burns, scars, itchy, cuts and irritated conditions. It helps the skin’s barrier to maintain moisture and a healthy protective layer. It is suitable for all skin types, and has a wonderful effect on dry and mature skin. It is one of the butters with the highest contents of essential fatty acids + vitamin C, calcium and phosphorus. Acne prone skin conditions can benefit form this amazing ingredient too. The colour is light golden and has a slight scent of citrus. A high performance antiaging weapon against all sorts of your skin’s challenges.

I use Maracuja butter, as well as other exotic butters in bespoke formulations.
